In summer, swimming is a favorite sport for all friends, but you can't afford to buy swimsuits carelessly! According to the inspection situation of imported garments, we have sorted out the precautions for parents in purchasing children's swimsuits?

According to GB 31701-2015 technical code for safety of textile products for infants and children, routine testing items for swimsuits for infants and children include rope and loop length, tensile strength of accessories, color fastness, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, formaldehyde content, etc. The imported children's swimsuit shall meet the requirements of the above national mandatory safety technical specifications.

Quality and safety risk verification of imported children's swimsuit

Since 2019, Chongqing customs has organized the national quality and safety risk assessment center for import and export commodities (Chongqing) to verify the quality and safety risks of 50 batches of imported infant and child swimsuits. The results showed that 38 batches of swimsuits were unqualified in rope safety, 2 batches in color fastness and 1 batch in tensile strength of swimsuit accessories.

Main hazards of unqualified quality and safety of children's swimsuit

Hazard of unqualified rope

The unqualified rope belt of infant swimsuit refers to the nonstandard design of the shoulder strap, back strap and skirt belt of the swimsuit. If the rope is too long, it is easy to be entangled, caught or hooked by moving objects, trample, strangulation, etc., and the infant's neck will be entangled and suffocated. In addition, some elastic ropes stretch easily to the face and eyes, causing harm to infants and children.

In recent 10 years, China's media has publicly reported that there are no less than 7 cases of serious safety accidents caused by ropes and belts; in addition, according to the CPSC statistics of the United States, since 1985, there have been 22 cases of suffocation of children due to clothing ropes around the neck, in addition to 47 cases of non death incidents.
